Commoner's Table
 

A selection of 100 commoner jobs, from actor through to woodseller, each supplied with a brief description. Not all jobs fit in with every environment, so just re-roll on the table if you roll something that you wouldn't normally find (a diver in a mountain village, for instance).

03 Bagger A bag maker. 53 Barber Someone who cuts hair.
04 Bar Maid Someone who works in an inn or tavern serving drinks. 54 Bather A person who works in a public bath house.
05 Beggar An unskilled person who is forced to ask others for money. 55 Bleacher A bleacher of cloth.
06 Boatman Someone who ferries people across bodies of water. 56 Buckle Maker A maker of belts and buckles.
07 Bricklayer A builder who lays bricks. 57 Brothel Keeper An owner of a brothel.
08 Carder Someone who brushes cloth and prepares wool and cotton for weaving. 58 Carter A driver of carts and wagons.
09 Catgut Maker A maker of fine, tough cord made from sheep intestines. 59 Chamber Maid A cleaner in the employ of a wealthy individual.
10 Chandler A maker or seller of candles. 60 Charwoman A cleaner or scrubber.
11 Chest and Trunk Maker Someone who makes chests, trunks and other vessels. 61 Chimney Sweep Some who cleans chimneys (often children).
12 Comb Maker A maker of combs. 62 Cook Someone who cooks and prepares foodi, but is untrained.
13 Copyist A linguistic copier. 63 Cooper A maker of casks and barrels.
14 Cup Bearer Someone who takes the first sip of a drink to check for poison. 64 Cutler A seller of cutlery and knife sharpner.
15 Dairymaid A person who works in a dairy. 65 Dancer Someone who dances for a living; often a street entertainer.
16 Ditcher A digger of ditches. 66 Diver Someone who dives for sponges, pearls, shell fish, etc.
17 Dyer Someone who uses dyes. 67 Ewerer A fetcher and heater of water, usually for nobles.
18 Executioner A person who carries out the law; specifically, who executes the death sentance. 68 Falconer A breeder and keeper of falcons.
19 Farmer A grower of food and keeper of livestock. 69 Farrier A horse shoer.
20 Fisherman Someone who catches and sells fish. 70 Footman A servant employed in a large house.
21 Forester Someone who manages forests and natural resources. 71 Fortune Teller An unskilled reader of palms, teller of fortunes, etc.
22 Fuller Someone who fulls (makes thicker) or cleans cloth. 72 Gardener A person who tends gardens, usually for a landowner.
23 Glass Blower A maker of glassware, such as glasses, bottles, etc. 73 Glove Maker Someone who makes gloves.
24 Gong Farmer A worker who empties the latrine pit. 74 Gravedigger A person employed to bury the dead.
25 Groom Someone employed to dress a horse for riding. 75 Haberdasher A peddler of small wares.
26 Carver A carver of stone, wood, etc. 76 Hat Maker A maker of hats.
27 Hayward An inspector of cattle fences and enclosures and who impounds strays. 77 Herald A public messenger.
28 Herder A herdsman. 78 Lumberjack Someone who cuts down trees.
29 Hunter A hunter of game. Sometimes also a poacher. 79 Inn Keeper A keeper of an inn or tavern.
30 Metalmonger A dealer and worker of scrap metal goods. 80 Jailor Someone who guards prisoners (usually a warrior).
31 Jester A clown or fool, often employed by nobles, or a street entertainer. 81 Joiner A worker of wood.
32 Lady in Waiting A woman employed by a noblewomen to help them. 82 Tanner A worker of leather goods.
33 Linkboy Someone (usually a young boy) who carries light at night. 83 Poulterer Someone who deals in poultry.
34 Matress Maker A person who makes matresses. 84 Mercenary Someone hired to fight for a cause not their own (usually a warrior).
35 Midwife A deliverer of babies (often an acolyte). 85 Miller A converter of materials into another form (corn miller, flour miller, saw miller, cloth miller, lumber miller, and so forth).
36 Miner A person who extracts minerals from the ground, often from deep under the earth. 86 Minstrel An untrained singer and story teller.
37 Musician Someone who plays an instrument. 87 Net Makers A maker of nets.
38 Pursemaker A maker of purses and bags. 88 Painter Someone who paints, but who is not an artist.
39 Peddler A common merchant, usually selling cheap good of low quality. 89 Plasterer A person who plasters, usually large structures.
40 Potter A maker and seller of pottery. 90 Prostitute A person who exchanges personal services for money.
41 Ratcatcher A catcher and killer of rats and other vermin. 91 Road Mender A person who repairs roads.
42 Roofer A constructor and repairer of roofs. 92 Ropemaker Someone who makes ropes, usually from hemp.
43 Oarsman Someone who rows a ship, usually as aprt of a large team of oarsmen. 93 Saddler A maker of saddles, harnesses, bridles and so forth.
44 Salter A person who manufactures salt. 94 Seamstress Someone who sews (often employed by tailors).
45 Servant A person who works in the service of another (usually in a household). 95 Shopkeeper An owner or manager of a shop.
46 Cobbler Someone who makes shoes. 96 Silk Weaver A spinner of silk yarn.
47 Laborer Someone hired for general manual work. 97 Cottar A person who does odd jobs.
48 Tailor A maker and repairer of garments. 98 Trapper A person employed to set traps, usually by large landowners.
49 Weaver Someone who weaves cloth, reed, wood and so forth. 99 Wheelwright A maker and repairer of wagon wheels.
