The Author

Keith Robinson began this project some time in early 2003 and has, in varying degrees, been working on it ever since. His aim has always been to bring a professional campaign world to the internet, which can be accessed for free and which offers all the flavor, variety and support that a professional product would receive. Indeed, it is the firm belief of the author of The Kyngdoms, that the product supplied not only stands proudly against any of the published material, but in many instances actually betters it.

The intense workload that comes with designing a full campaign world, plus both designing and creating the website that makes it available to the general public, has lead to much soul searching and questioning of his sanity, having given up a well paid job to follow a dream and rely upon the support of his wife, Louise, who took up the burden of being the main wage earner. However, despite the highs and lows, the bright days and the dark days, Keith pushed forward with his effort, finally arriving at the destination he had always hoped to reach: a finished product that he was justly proud of.

The author has used much material released under the OGL to augment his own ideas and creativity and has released much of his own work under the OGL (see the Legal section for more details) so that existing and future authors may use his work to build and improve upon. He is a fully supportive member of the Open movement, which he believes is in the good of the game as a whole. Without the release of the SRD under the OGL, none of this would have been possible. For that, he would like to thank Wizard's of the Coast for their foresight in taking such a huge risk.

Finally, during this period Keith and his wife, Louise, had their first child, Ollie, adding to the general exhaustion and hard work. Nonetheless, Keith Robinson is pleased to welcome you all to The Kyngdoms and hopes that your imagination, creativity and passion is infused and ignited and that you'll return often to share your thoughts and ideas with The Kyngdoms community, which can be found in a tangible form in the Messageboards.

A Personal Note from the Author:

This project has consumed my life, pretty much, for a period of two years. When I started, I had no idea of the energy and time that would be required to complete it and had I, then maybe I never would have started it in the first place. This was especially so after around a year, when I never thought it would end - when the task seemed so monumental that I was entirely overwhelmed with a sense of frustration and even despair. So now it is before me, in its entirety, it begs a single question: was it worth it? And now I'm basking in the light I've discovered at the end of the tunnel, I can answer, unequivocally, yes. Damn right it was.

To finish, I would just like to thank a few people. The first of these are those who have come along on a weekly basis to play in The Kyngdoms campaign and who have helped add to its flavor. To Darrell, Dave, Duncan, Julian, Marc and Paul, I give my thanks and look forward to many more adventures with you all. Secondly - and most importantly - I would like to thank my wife, Louise, for everything that she has done in helping The Kyngdoms reach the point it has today. Not only has she supported me, fully, and allowed me to follow a dream, she has offered her advice, wisdom and counsel. Without her, none of this would have been possible and none of this would exist. I cannot say enough that would fully show the love that I have for her. During this time, she also gave birth to Oliver, our first child. Louise, thank you.
