[1] So why is all this free - why not sell it, like everyone else?
We do sell it. You can purchase a copy
here. The reason for making The Kyngdoms available online was twofold. Firstly, we felt this was an untapped and unexplored area. Secondly, campaign worlds are difficult to sell. So we thought we'd try a different approach.

[2] What do you mean by free exactly?
What we mean by free is "open content". The Kyngdoms has been released under the OGL. You can use the material presented here only under the exact terms of the license.

[3] I'm sure I've seen some of this stuff elsewhere? Is that legal?
We have incorporated the work of other authors/companies into our own under the terms of the OGL license, under which they have also been released. That is the point of the license, so yes, it's all legal.

[4] What is the SRD?
The SRD is the System Reference Document which was released by
WotC as open game content and which is subject to the Open Game License (OGL). It allows publishers to use the rules of their game (as defined in the SRD) to produce their own products, which is exactly what we have done here at The Kyngdoms.

[5] What is the OGL?
The OGL is the Open Game License. This is a license, owned by
WotC, which allows use of the SRD under the exact terms as laid out in the OGL. It is legally binding and any breach could result in product withdrawal.

[6] What is 3.5 OGL Fantasy Roleplaying?
3.5 OGL Fantasy Roleplaying is based on a well known fantasy roleplaying game that was released under the OGL (Open Game License) and which is freely available in the form of the SRD (System Reference Document).

[7] What is product identity?
Product identity, often referred to as PI, is what a publisher sets aside as not being open content. Generally speaking, this include such things as names, images, some rules and so forth. Material that is designated as PI cannot be used under the OGL, as it has not been released under the license. Indeed, it has not been released at all and the publisher retains all rights over that material it has designated as PI.

[8] If it's free, does that mean all the artwork is free as well?
None of the artwork used here at The Kyngdoms is free for your use as it is either owned by The Kyngdoms or by some other party. The use of any image from this site is illegal.

[9] Can I use some of the artwork on my website?
You cannot use any of the artwork displayed at The Kyngdoms without gaining our specific permission. Anybody caught doing so without having first asked our permission will be asked to remove the images from their site (or product). Should you ask for permission, please do not be offended when we say no.

[10] Who owns all the artwork displayed on the website?
The majority of the artwork used on The Kyngdoms website is owned by The Kyngdoms. Some is owned by Image Portfolio © Louise Porter, Jr. Design. None of the artwork can be used without the express permission of the owner.
